Independent judgment. Transparent standards.
Our responsibility is to readers. This policy explains how we protect editorial independence, acquire products, handle commercial relationships, correct mistakes, and keep published information current.
The promises behind every page
Our editorial principles
Readers come first
Recommendations are written to help people make informed decisions—not to satisfy brands or advertisers.
Evidence over claims
We examine manufacturing and product evidence rather than repeating promotional language.
No purchased influence
Companies cannot buy rankings, awards, favorable coverage, or access to our scoring process.
Corrections are part of the work
When credible new evidence changes the record, we review it and update the page.
Editorial control stays with us
Independence and manufacturer influence
What manufacturers cannot do
- Pay for a review, ranking, score, or award
- Approve or edit coverage before publication
- Require a favorable conclusion
- Suppress a disclosed weakness or sourcing qualification
How manufacturers may participate
A company may answer factual questions, provide manufacturing documentation, or identify a possible error.
We evaluate that information independently. A company’s disagreement does not by itself justify changing a score or conclusion.
Revenue does not determine coverage
Affiliate links and commercial relationships
Some pages contain links that may earn the publication a commission if a reader makes a purchase. This does not increase the reader’s price and does not determine which products we cover, how they score, or whether we recommend them.
No free products
How we obtain products
Products we test
Products used for hands-on testing are purchased, borrowed, or otherwise obtained independently. We do not accept free manufacturer samples as compensation for coverage.
If a product is borrowed for evaluation, ownership remains with the lender and the product is returned after testing.
Evidence-based reviews
Not every review involves hands-on testing. Evidence-based reviews are clearly labeled and rely on documented specifications, manufacturing disclosures, warranty terms, credible expert reporting, and reliable long-term owner experience.
See our review methodology for the evidence labels and scoring model.
Correct matters more than first
Accuracy, sourcing, and updates
Verify the record
We check the exact model, manufacturing claim, specifications, warranty, and evidence supporting the review.
Disclose what we know
We identify the review type, important qualifications, affiliate relationships, and the date of manufacturing verification.
Maintain the page
When factories, sourcing, models, or credible evidence change, we revisit the affected claims and conclusions.
A transparent correction process
Corrections and substantive updates
Factual corrections
We review reported errors against the available evidence. Confirmed mistakes are corrected as promptly as practical, without allowing a manufacturer to rewrite editorial judgment.
Material updates
When new evidence materially changes manufacturing status, product performance, or a recommendation, we update the relevant language, rating, verification date, or conclusion.
