Smithey Ironware
Smithey Ironware makes polished, hand-finished cast iron and carbon steel that has become a modern American heirloom. Founded in 2015 by Isaac Morton and made entirely in North Charleston, South Carolina, its cookware is known for a satin-smooth interior, pour spouts, and a signature three-hole helper handle — and for being about as American-made as cookware gets.

American Manufacturing
Verified: July 2026
Smithey casts, machines, polishes, seasons, and ships every piece from its own operation in North Charleston, South Carolina, now with around 65 employees. There are no chemical coatings: skillets are hand-seasoned with grapeseed oil and are free of PFOA, PFAS, and PTFE. It is one of the most fully American-made cookware companies we have covered. We verified this against the manufacturer and independent press.
The Story
Isaac Morton founded Smithey in 2015 in Charleston, admiring the smooth surfaces and timeless logos of vintage ironware. He sold the first skillet that year as the company’s only employee; a decade later, Smithey has grown to around 65 employees and 550-plus retailers, and expanded into carbon steel in 2018 in collaboration with blacksmith Robert Thomas — all while keeping production in North Charleston.
